Behold the wonder of art this Summer with the following classes, workshops, and opportunities from TeenTix's Arts & Community Partners, as well as other members of the local arts community!

The Residency 2020 Summer Workshop Series

This Summer Workshop Series is a FREE, one-week intensive summer music program where young people will have the opportunity to make music and learn about the music business while centering social justice issues. Participants will receive a $300 stipend, a certificate of completion signed by Macklemore and the teaching artists, and access for other year round opportunities as members of the 2020 Class.

Dates: August 10 - 14 & August 17 - 18.

Open to: Ages 16 - 24 with an established desire to pursue hip-hop and music as a career.

Reel Queer Youth

Reel Queer Youth is a video production and media literacy program created and run by Three Dollar Bill Cinema for many years, this year the program is being held online with Northwest Film Forum. Participants will explore the many facets of filmmaking and will make a film using tech and media they have available. Scholarships are available! We’ll celebrate our stories and experiences and build connections that are so important for creative work. Make a film and meet other young LGBTQ+ and ally filmmakers this summer!

Dates: August 3rd - August 7th

Open to: LGBTQ+ youth and allies ages 13 - 18

Photography As a Digital Story - via Youth In Focus

Focus on unlocking your storytelling techniques through creating photographs. Learn the various ways you can visually communicate and convey an emotion by creating a photo and considering color, symbolism, and narratives. Creativity and a diaristic approach will be encouraged. Rather than just snapping a picture, you will be challenged to create your own photographs as we discuss our new reality during the pandemic and social justice in 2020.

Dates: July 6th - July 30th (Not yet full)

Creative Black & White Portfolio - via Youth In Focus

Students will learn the basics of darkroom printing and film processing and will build a portfolio of 5 images based on a theme of their choice. Class will include neighborhood trips, class critiques, explore themes of social justice with photography and plenty of darkroom time. All experience levels welcome! Payment assistance available.

Dates: July 20th - July 24th

Narrative & Controlled Lighting - via Youth In Focus


This class will introduce concepts of narrative photography and story-telling through the photographic medium. We will work with controlled and natural lighting and work on creating the best presentation possible utilizing LightRoom and Photoshop.

Creative Black & White Darkroom - via Youth In Focus


Students will learn the basics of darkroom printing and film processing, as well as some hands on pinhole camera building and alternative process. Class will include neighborhood trips, class critiques, and darkroom time. All experience levels welcome! Payment assistance is available.

Portrait Photography & Lighting (Digital) - via Youth In Focus


Learn the art of portraiture, from posing to creative lighting techniques, and change the way you think about taking pictures of people.

Shakespeare in the Park - via Penguin Productions

Unplug with a fun exploration with how to create social connection when physically distanced. Develop voice, body, and imagination through great scenes - love scenes, fight scenes, wicked characters and noble ones, magic and mayhem.

Dates: August 17th - 21st

TEEN PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP - via Seattle Opera


In this two-week vocal intensive, teens will participate in masterclasses and workshops designed to strengthen their performance skills and lead by industry professionals. They will also choose a song to learn over the course of the program, receive one-on-one voice lessons, and present their piece in a virtual concert at the end of the program. No prior musical or theatrical experience is required!

Dates: July 20th – 31st

Exploring Hungarian Dances - via SYSO Summer Music

Learn and explore music fundamentals like theory, ear-training, etc. by diving deep into the Hungarian Dances by Brahms. Perform Hungarian Dance No. 5 in a virtual orchestra to share with friends and family! A chance to interact with other musicians virtually!

Dates: August 10th – 14th

Gage Academy of Arts Summer Classes

Spend the summer learning new skills online and dive deeper into your passion. Create a killer portfolio in art or animation with our 2-week drawing, painting and digital animation intensives, or try out new mediums with our 1 week classes in printmaking (yes you can do it at home!), sculpture and illustration. Improve your skills and do what you love; whether it’s making a zine or creating characters, you’ll learn from a creative, rigorous curriculum taught by professional teaching artists in daily classes and projects.

Dates: 1 - 2 week classes, From July 27th - August 28th

Power of Hope Camp

Join us for Power of Hope Camp Online so we can connect from our cocoons. We’ll share how we’re doing, our successes and challenges, and give and receive support. We’ll dream and scheme about the world we want, and we’ll explore ways to use our creativity to make that world happen. We will participate in lots of fun, interactive, creative workshops, develop confidence to make things happen in your lives, and more!

Dates: August 3rd – 7th
