Almost Live! (Almost an Exhibit)

The sketch comedy show Almost Live! aired on KING 5 from 1984 to 1999. It poked fun at regional stereotypes, gave us memorable characters and sketches, and launched local celebrities and national careers. It was a renowned success at a time when Seattle itself rose to national prominence. As grunge was dominating the charts and companies like Microsoft and Starbucks were expanding, Almost Live! was there to joke about it.

This small exhibit displays Almost Live! costumes and props, materials from the writing and production process, along with (lots!) of clips from the show. Together they tell the story of an inventive cast and crew who gave us a brand of local humor that was sometimes goofy, sometimes searing, and often wrestled with the anxieties of a region that was rapidly changing around them.

Ticket Availability

Tickets can be purchased in person at the MOHAI Admissions Desk any time during business hours. 

2 for $10 Thursday

A TeenTix member may purchase a $5 ticket for themselves and for another person of any age ($10 total) for Thursday shows at this venue. If there are multiple performances on a Thursday, it is at the venue's discretion to decide which performance is eligible for this deal. Always call ahead to plan for companion tickets.

MOHAI is close to several bus routes as well as the South Lake Union Streetcar line. For timetables and trip planning, consult King County Metro’s trip planner tool.

Hours

Open daily 10:00am-5:00pm, and until 8:00pm on the first Thursday of each month.

Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

"In January 2020, MOHAI completed the development of our Racial Equity statement and three-year workplan based on a year of staff and board racial equity training. The Racial Equity Statement and Goals were collaboratively created, along with a more in-depth workplan, over several months and reflect the cumulative work of every department."
